Medical Requirements

Gulf Countries (GAMCA Medical): All Gulf-bound workers must undergo a medical examination at a GAMCA (GCC Approved Medical Centres Association) approved centre. The medical includes:

  • Complete blood count (CBC)
  • Blood sugar and cholesterol
  • HIV, Hepatitis B & C tests
  • Chest X-ray (to rule out tuberculosis)
  • General physical examination
  • Eye and ear examination

Medical results are valid for 2 months. Cost: approximately ₹2,000–3,500.

European Countries: Medical requirements for Europe are generally less intensive but still mandatory:

  • General health certificate from a registered medical practitioner
  • Some countries may require specific vaccinations
  • Tuberculosis screening may be required
  • Drug test (for certain roles)

Trade Test Requirements

Trade tests are practical skill assessments required for skilled positions. They are more common for Gulf countries.

Who needs a trade test?

  • Welders (welding test with specific positions — 1G, 2G, 3G, 6G)
  • Electricians (wiring, troubleshooting tests)
  • Plumbers (pipe fitting, connection tests)
  • Fitters (mechanical assembly tests)
  • Carpenters (woodwork tests)
  • AC Technicians (installation and repair tests)

Trade tests are conducted at approved trade test centres. Your recruitment agency will arrange the test when required.

E-Migrate Requirements

The E-Migrate system is mandatory for all Indian workers going to ECR countries for employment. Here is what is needed:

  • Aadhaar-linked mobile number
  • Valid passport
  • Employment contract details
  • Employer verification (done by Indian Embassy in the destination country)
  • Recruitment agency's RA license details

Your licensed agency handles the E-Migrate registration. The process takes 2–5 working days once all documents are submitted.

Age Limits by Country

Gulf Countries tend to have stricter age limits:

  • UAE: 18–55 years (some employers prefer 21–45)
  • Saudi Arabia: 21–50 years
  • Qatar: 21–50 years
  • Kuwait: 21–50 years

European Countries are more flexible:

  • Poland, Romania, Croatia: No strict upper age limit, but employers typically prefer 21–50 years
  • Fitness for the job is more important than age in European countries

Education Requirements

For Gulf Countries:

  • General labour and helpers: 8th pass minimum
  • Skilled trades (electrician, plumber, welder): ITI certificate preferred
  • Technical roles: Diploma or degree required
  • Professional roles (nurse, engineer): Relevant degree mandatory

For European Countries:

  • Most roles require minimum 10th pass
  • Skilled trades: ITI or equivalent vocational training preferred
  • Professional roles: Relevant degree and sometimes credential verification

How to Prepare Your Documents

  1. Get all certificates attested — Some countries require apostille (for Hague Convention countries like EU nations) or embassy attestation (for Gulf)
  2. Translate documents — European countries may require certified translations
  3. Keep multiple photocopies — At least 5 sets of all documents
  4. Update your CV — Include all relevant work experience with dates
  5. Get reference letters — From previous employers if possible
